Britney Spears Did Not Watch ‘Framing Britney’, And She’s Keeping Her Joy
Britney Spears did not watch the Framing Britney Spears documentary, but has said she was “embarrassed” by the light it put her in, adding that she “cried for two weeks”. The short film, which aired in February, examined the star’s treatment by the tabloids at the height of her career, the sexism and misogyny she faced from the entertainment industry, and her involuntary commitment to a psychiatric ward in 2008, after which she was put under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears. The order remains in place today.
In a candid Instagram post, Spears said she has always been “judged, insulted and embarrassed” by the media, but that she is determined to “keep my own joy”. “I didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in,” she told her millions of fans. “I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes !!!! I do what I can in my own spirituality with myself to try and keep my own joy … love … and happiness !!!! Every day dancing brings me joy !!!” True to form, Spears danced to the Aerosmith song “Crazy” in the short clip.
