getting to know – Jasmine Jardot
So what came first… modelling or the photography?
Modelling was first and through that I realised my love for photography.
That’s really interesting. Which do you prefer doing?
Photography. I do enjoy modelling but I prefer the amount of control I have which you often don’t get when you’re the model.
How long have you been modelling?
What do you prefer when modelling.. taking self portraits or working with a photographer?
I love taking self portraits but when I work with an amazing photographer you end up with a completely different look from your own and there’s always an opportunity to learn something new.
Do you have a favourite experience with modelling?
Probably the trips abroad.
There’s nothing better than opportunities to travel. Do you think that having experience modelling helps you when photographing models? I.e is it easier to direct?
I think it’s the other way round actually, my photography experience has helped me with my modelling. I never try to direct too much when it comes to the models, I find the more relaxed and themselves they are the more real and pleasing the photograph.
What’s your worst experience with modelling?
Castings! I hated them
I hear you! Who would you most like to photograph?
Someone like Monica Bellucci or Charlotte Rampling, they are pros and they ooze presence. I find as people mature, they become more comfortable with their vulnerability and their honesty is what I want to capture.
Do you have any advice for anyone trying to get into the modelling industry?
Go to a reputable agency and shoot with photographers you like, don’t worry about fitting into a mould and find your confidence by accepting who you are.
